MAY BOOK PROJECT

The May Book Project works on spreading Asian literacy across St. Louis high school libraries. Literature plays a crucial role in the lives of youth as it shapes and navigates them through the world. Therefore, proper AAPI representation in books is a must.

  • As long as there are readers, there needs to be AAPI youth visibility and confidence. With an extensively curated book list, the goal of the May Book Project centers on getting diverse books in libraries to reach a wider range of students and does not pertain to changing the curriculum.

  • The May Book Project has supported over 80 schools and libraries in 13 states as well as the District of Columbia! Over 2,000 books have been donated with the help of various sponsors.

  • We are launching the May Book Concert this April from 1-4 pm, featuring musical talent from our own AAPI communities to raise money for May Books. The concert will be held at the art museum during their Japanese cultural exhibits.
