COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

As a civic organization, community involvement is a top priority of AACS. Through active participation in local events and dedicated volunteering efforts, our members are committed to serving and strengthening the St. Louis region.

  • Project Masked made and distributed child-sized masks in 2020 during the COVID-19 Pandemic. This project was started by a WashU undergraduate, Shelei Pan, after noticing a shortage in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the local community. Here is a link to the full story.

  • At the 2024 Lunar New Year Celebration at the Missouri State Capitol, AACS members embraced cultural diversity and fostered community connections.

  • The Chinese Education and Culture Center in St. Louis hosted Family Night, in which Emily Yang, Cindy Liu, and Max Zeng brought stress relief games + toys to give out to youth. They also helped strengthen parent-child relationships through games of “How Well Do You Know Each Other?”, with questions like “does your parent believe in love at first sight?” and “which day if the week does your child find most stressful?” Funding support was received from the STL County Children’s Service Fund.
